There is a reason for this. Spousal PR applicants can bypass medical exemptions. "Won't be denied PR on account of medical care burden". So by landing as single so you can sponsor your common law to bypass this medical exemption is a big no no.
Hi screech, correct me if i am wrong. So to avoid misrepresentation i should declare my common law partner? My knowledge on spousal sponsorship is very limited. I have this idea that maybe after getting pr i can sponsor my partner thru spousal sponsorship provided that we will get mary first. Does it mean that others waited for years or months before they can sponsor their loved ones?

Assuming your aunt qualifies to sponsor you (so no spouse or family in Canada, and parents are deceased), you must declare your common-law partner in your application. Your partner will also do medical exam and police checks, and you would both get PR status together.
Hello sir rob. Yes my aunt doesnt have spouse and kids. Parents are deceased. She doesnt have anyone in canada. If i will include my common law partner in sponsorship of my aunt would you think it might be more complicated as sponsorship under other eligible relative is complicated? One more thing sir, my partner has a multiple entry visa would you think it will help? Cos i'm thinking maybe in the middle of the process we can go to canada to get marry. It is not necesary to change my last name. Will it be misinterpretation if in the middle of processing the sponsorship i will get marry.
Hi rob, questions about regarding common law relationship. Me and my partner are currently living here in dubai. This is a muslim country and we are on same sex relationship. To prove that we are really a common law we have to provide house rent that under our names and that we have for 12 months now. We dont have joint account as dubai doesnt allow it unless you are married with opposite sex. We also dont have phone bills together for the same reason. She only have. We only have pictures, flight tickets and friends that can testify that our relationship is true. We are a filipino citizen by the way we are here in dubai because of job. This is the reason why i can not include her on my aunt's sponsorship. Lack of proof. It would have been easier if we will get marry but the thing is we need to go to other country accepting same sex marriage. Thank you.
