Hello,

I am 55. I got Canadian citizenship in 2009 through my deceased mother. I have never lived in Canada. I want to sponsor my daughter who is 21 years old. Is this possible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can sponsor a dependant child if you’re a Canadian citizen living outside Canada but must provide a plan to convince IRCC that you intend to live or reside in Canada when your sponsored dependant child becomes a permanent resident in Canada.

You are better to sponsor your daughter now to lock in the age before she gets to 22.

Given you've never lived in Canada, I don't think there's any chance the sponsorship application will be successful if you sponsor her from outside of Canada. CIC won't believe that you plan to relocate. You would need to move to Canada and then apply to sponsor her - and also remain in Canada while the application is processed. Note that once she turns 22, she will be too old to be sponsored.
