Hello, I just got married in the Philippines in February. My husband was married, but the ex was also married to another guy. So their marriage isn't valid or her and my husbands marriage isn't valid I'm really not sure anymore (sorry it's very confusing). Anyways, because it was void we were able to get married. I am now trying to start sponsoring him, but the name of his ex wife still shows up on his CENOMAR, we also pulled up his ex wifes and hee CENOMAR shows that she was married to the other guy and to my husband . I relly don't know what to do. Please help.

If your husband is recorded as married at the time of your marriage, Canada may not recognize the marriage. Relying on bigamy to invalidate a previous marriage is challenging if the marriage has actually not been anulled.

I'm not sure what to suggest to you.

Eventhough she was also married to another guy?

Under Philippine law, the fact that the marriage is void ab initio does not mean the parties of the void marriage can just get married when they want. You need to have the courts declare the marriage void before getting married.

Your marriage is therefore not valid in Philippine law resulting to it not being valid in IRCC standards.

You may want to obtain legal advice beyond this forum, the marriage appears to not be valid so IRCC wont recognize you as a married couple for the purpose of spousal sponsorship. Find out if your marriage is valid first. Then you can decide to either take the steps to make your marriage legal, or apply as either common law or conjugal class due to the legal barriers to your marriage.
