Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with my application.
I am a Canadian citizen (by birth) and have been living in the UK for 14 years with my husband (British by birth). We now have a young son (also British by birth).
I have sent an application to get my son's citizenship certificate in order to get a Canadian passport for him. So am I correct in assuming that I don't need to include him as an applicant? And he doesn't require a medical?
I am acting as the sponsor and my parents have offered to let us stay with them until we get jobs and a home of our own. The application mentions a minimum income in order to sponsor your family an although I am employed at a fairly decent job here in the UK, I have only recently come off of maternity leave and am working part time. Will they really take this in to consideration when it really doesn't make a difference to how much money we'll have while in Canada?
Which brings me on to another point. We haven't been able to find jobs in Canada while still living in the UK. Like I said, my parents are willing to let us stay with them while we find jobs and a house but will that uncertainty count against us? Our savings will most likely be eaten up with visa applications, plane tickets and shipping costs but we own our own home which we will sell (and ideally save this money to buy a home in Canada) so it's not like we'll be completely broke.
I really just want to catch issues before they arise and hopefully preempt any questions or need for further information.

*sigh, applying to get in to the UK was MUCH easier!

Thanks for your help

As far as I understand ...
If your son is Canadian there is no need to include him in the application or for a medical. But I think you do need to include his citizenship certificate with the application.
There is no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorship provided the application doesn't include dependents who themselves have dependents.
Regarding no job offer in Canada ... here I'm not sure and I'll defer to more senior forum members!

... I should have said "a photocopy of his citizenship certificate"

there is no minimum income requirement for sponsoring your spouse. a sponsor is not required to be employed or have an income. not having any job offers in canada for either of you is not relavant to a spousal sponsorship application nor will it negatively affect your application. it's not even necessary to mention this in the application, since there is no question or requirement related to "job offers".

cic is only concerned about whether your plans for resettlement make sense and if it's likely you will go on welfare as soon you move. letters of support from family members and information about research done prior to moving are fine. cic is not looking for concrete plans.

Thank you both, that's really helpful.
When you say photocopy (and the visa checklist mentions photocopies too) I assume you mean certified copies. ?

unless the checklist specifies "certified copies", only a regular copy is needed. i believe certified copies are needed for documents not in english or french.
