Application sent Nov 2016. Medical Results received Feb 2017. How much longer to wait?

My husband and I are also sponsoring my step-daughter ( a dependant child) from Cuba. We just got our approval letter a week ago and she's going for her medical on Wednesday.

When was the medical for yours done? I'm curious too to see how long the process will be...

Is there a reason he had the medical done prior to submitting the application? If they expire before processing is complete they may request a new one.

Furthermore (I noticed your post in a separate thread) is there a reason your application was sent to the Visa office in Mexico if he is a Cuban residing in Cuba?!? Seems strange!

We submitted our application with an upfront medical.... a common practice.
If you check the website. CIC is now processing the majority of non-spousal visas for most of the Caribbean and Latin American countries in Mexico City.

Medical expiry dates can have an extension of 3 months applied at the discretion the Visa Office

This morning I was successful in linking my step son's application to my account.... Nd seeing the step by step details on the progress of processing the application has eased the anxiety somewhat.... all documents are checked and nothing more is needed.... medical results in and medical was passed.... nothing more needed. So now just waiting for the call to take passport to Havana Visa Office for Permanent Visa issue.... so happy.

What great news! Sorry I didn't realize that non-spousals for the carribean & Latin America were being sent to Mexico. Thanks for letting me know... my step-daughter went for her medical yesterday and again today.
Best of luck to you in the process and hopefully your step-son is home with you soon!

A question, why do some spousal sponsorships going through the Havana Visa Office finalize after an average of 4 months with no interviews yet sponsorships of dependant children are taking much longer? Dependant children are already in the CIC system as they were listed as unaccompanied children on original spouse application.
