Hi, my girlfriend (3 years) and I plan to get married within a few weeks ;D. After we intend to apply for sponsorship. I am a Canadian Citizen and she is here on a one year working holiday visa from Germany. We think everything should work out with the sponsorship although I have a couple questions. I was laid off last winter for about 6 weeks when the economy slowed and collected ei for about 4 weeks. Things looks good for this winter but it can't be gaurenteed. Will this make me ineligible as sponsor and at what point in the timeline would this come up if it was an issue? Also are ploicies likely to change quickly if a new government is in place after the election? Thanks.

EI is not welfare, therefore not a problem.
