hi all,

I know it takes up to 12 months for your application to be denied or approved, but How long does it take for that spouse to become a Canadian citizen? Or when they are approved what is there status?

Once they use their COPR to land, they become a permanent resident. Currently, to become a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident MUST PHYSICALLY stay in Canada for 3 years within the last 5 years of the date of citizenship application. Example: if applying today, February 3, 2019, the person must have spent 3 physical years in Canada from February 3, 2014 to today.

Thanks so much for your quick response.

Another question I have is I will be getting married to my boyfriend after being together for a year and a bit. Does it look bad if i sponsor him right away, or is it better to wait? do I have a better chance of my application going through?
