hi to everyone, i just wondering if anyone could give me an advise with regards to sponsoring a partner which is currently a refugee here. hope to get some advise and some ideas... my questions are:

1. is it possible to sponsor a partner(currently a refugee)?
2. if yes, does my partner need to exit canada if i do the sponsorhip?
3. while having the sponsorship application in process for my partner, is it possible to sponsor my mom too?

thanks...

1. Yes you can but there will be more burden placed on you to show this is a genuine marriage and not an attempt by the refugee to gain status in canada
2. the partner may or may not have to leave that depends on their refugee claim if there is 1
3. you can sponsor as many people as you want please keep in mine spousal sponsorship requires no minimum income while parental sponsorship do and yes both application can be in process at the same time parental sponsorship takes about 4 yrs before initial approval so that is a lengthy process

thanks kedeisha. at least now i know that i can have 2 sponsorships at the same time. well, we're not married, just a common-law partner. we've been together for over a year now, but the problem is, we don't live together. and we have no proof other than mailing in the same address.

well u need a little more than mail going to the same address roommates have that u need to see what differentiate you from roommates and u just said u dont live together gonna be a tricky one are u able to combine affairs? have joint accounts utilities in both names life insurance wills being made beneficiary basically what have u guys done to show u are common law because u not loving together means u r not commonlaw

well, we are still in the process on that. we still have to wait 1 more year. and i hope by next year i can start the sponshorship application. i just wanna know about the refugee status, coz i dont know much about it.
