Sponsoring a parent

I submitted my mother's application July 2010, and it looks like they're only processing 2007 applications now. Anyone in the same position - with some advice?? We sponsored my mother-in-law almost 10 years ago, and that took about a year, from beginning to end. I even wrote them a letter - telling them that my dad died last year and how she's getting older - 71 now - and they just wrote back and said there was nothing they could do. Should I approach my MP - anyone had any luck with that route?

Sorry, but you are going to have to wait. Contacting your MP will not bump up your application. So you are looking at about 37 months at Mississauga. Then whatever takes it at the overseas office. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/08-fc-parents.asp

Thanks, I know how long they say its taking, but that just isn't good enough for me, and many other people. Really - 3 years to process an application??? I can't just sit back and wait - as you say - because I have my mother's future at stake; what would you do if it was your mother? Which constituency do you represent, by the way?

Ten years ago things in our countries were much different than they are now.As PMM said there is nothing you or your MP can do.Just have to wait like everyone else has before you sorry thats the way it is.
