Me & my wife are landed PR since Dec 19, 2007. While my wife went back-home (Bangladesh) in late Jan 2008, I did so July 8, 2008. Meantime we had a baby May 4, 2010. I 've returned to Canada on April 9, 2011. Her visa processing center is in Singapore. I read on cic.gc.ca site it takes 20 months to process there!! God forbids it's not that long for sponsoring a family member. Specially a dependent child. Can anyone share experience?

Thanks.

So your wife has been away since Jan 2008 until now?

Maybe you should use a calculator and see if she still meets the residency requirements for Canada. She should be in Canada for 2 years in the last five years.

For your child, you can come with him/her to Canada and apply for a temporary resident visa stating that you intend to apply for PR for the child. Singapore will not process your child, it will be processed in Canada under Humanitarian and Compasionate grounds.

I do believe it will be Singapore that processes that application....not that long ago, there was a case about this, and they sent the money back for the child, and told them to apply on H&C grounds through Vegreville and that was wrong, they had to repay the fees and go through outland process.....

Just because you are bringing a child home does not guarantee a TRV either.....

Spiritac is the one going through this as well...my recommendation would be to PM them and ask for advice about the TRV and how to apply for PR for the child.....

*Edit* There is no specific timeline for dependant children, they are processed on a case by case basis, and are supposed to be given priority according to the CIC website!!

I think Spiritac is sponsoring his wife and son. In masajjad's case both parents are PR. My best friend just landed a week ago in Calgary with their daughter. They came to Canada in 2007, left for the US in 2009 and gave birth to their child in the US in 2010. They came back last week to permanently reside in Canada (both parents are PR of Canada). They brought their daughter with them and applied for TRV for the child which was granted at the port of entry valid for one year. The IO advised them to submit the PR application thru H&C grounds for the child and send it to Vancouver.

I guess, it's different in every case???

Application for TRV in Bangladesh was refused in September 2010 & I was advised to come to CA & sponsor here from here.

I'm not sure if we could get a port entry visa for her. I doubt if immigration backhome would allow to fly.

Indeed every case is different. Hope they go case by case basis & god forbids it's not 20 months to process a dependent child in Singapore as it says on cic.gc.ca!

CIC Call Center didn't advise about H&C for this case. The processing fees is just $75+$75.

Thanks.

If it were only the dependent child it shouldn't take that long. However, your wife has not met the residency obligations of her PR. You might want to get some legal advice. It might be quicker if your wife surrenders PR and you apply to sponsor both of them. Seriously, get some advice before you proceed.

Sorry I couldn't reply to your personal message from Inbox, it says I'm not allowed.

My sponsorship application reached Case Processing Center on 22nd June. I've not yet received any acknowledgement letter. As of July 28th, applications that were received after June 9th are not in process yet. Now, the average time it takes to get first stage of approval (sponsorship is OK) is 42 days (i.e. nearly 9 weeks). Week before that it was 40 days. Status can be known from CIC's IVR system. Usually they update once a week.

Hope it won't take that long in Singapore. Rest is up to lord!

Before coming here download the forms (but very few that you will 've to fill up) and guides. Review them & get here prepared. It will save time to apply. Did you file tax return last year? They ask for certificate of tax assessment to sponsor. I didn't ‘ve one and explained that in a forwarding letter explaining my case. I'm not sure what they ‘ve to say. Also, though it's not necessary to meet minimum income level to sponsor a dependent child; but, I was advised from CIC Call Center to show last year earnings. I substantiated my claim by last year's salary statement and bank certificate of profit earned from saved cash. For the sponsorship application there is a checklist. It has it all. Read other guides line by line. That should do.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your information. I didn't file tax in canada. I will show my income in Bangladesh . I can show bank deposit in Canada and Bangladesh . I will come on September and planing to file by 2nd week. If you get sponsorship approval pls let me know. Again thanks for your information

But as rjessome stated, this is going to be more than the child in the original case and maybe in the case of Amy...

in the first case by the dates supplied neither of the parents has met the PR residency obligation and therefore may not qualify to come back to Canada with the PR status...if they left as stated in January and July of 2008 they have not met the residency requirement to maintain PR status in Canada

That would be my first priority to look into....

Re: personal message of Sep 8 by Amy612 on Canada Immigration Forum

For some reason I could not reply to your personal message. Sorry replying here.

I could not provide the Option-C print out. Accordingly I gave an explanation why I failed to provide it. I also, explained the background of my case in a nutshell. Worth mentioning as per advice of a lawyer I applied with a part time job. Per her experience she suggested it expedites the process and makes the case less complicated.

Our application package reached CMC-M on 22nd June. On 9th August I was informed my e-mail that the sponsorship application has been accepted. Her PR application is in Singapore now; however, apparently they have not started the processing yet.

Hope it helps.

Dear masajjad,
Hope you are doing fine. I came back in Canada on september and sent my sponsorship application without job on sept 28. I couldnt get any job within two weeks. Right now waiting for the sponshorship approval.
I am just wondering what is your pr application status now? Did singapore start the processing? Have you heard anything from them? I am interested about your time line because my case is almost similar to you. Please let me know if you get any update from singapore.
I really miss my son and counting evry day to see him.

Regards

No update yet :-( I've no idea when am I going to listen from them?

I don't 've much time left of the 2 years out of 5. Otherwies, I would had gone by now. I can feel for you and your son.

Regards.

Have you sponsored both your wife and son so your wife can get her PR again after not meeting the 2 of 5 years.

If you get any update pleas let me know.. I just want to predict my time line.
