Hi all!
A couple questions if I may =)

The instructions are a bit confusing. My wife is applying for Canadian Citizenship and we also want to sponsor her child. They have been permanent residents for several years.
As I got through the forms it seems to me that my wife must be a Citizen first before we can apply for her daughter. Is that correct?

I ask because it seems to ask for proof of citizenship from the parent.

The other question is it asks for a photocopy of the passport which is fine, but then in another question it asks for a photocopy of their ID, but a permanent resident card is not accepted. I am wondering if that's the passport again?

Your wife can apply for citizenship at the same time with her minor daughter. She doesn't need to be a citizen first, for that question just put NA. For IDs your wife's daughter's passport ( valid passport) can be used as one of ID along with her daughter's healthcare card. You may need to make two copies of the same passport, one copy for ID.

Good luck!

You have some of the terminology wrong.

If your wife and her child have been PR for several years and they meet the requirement to apply for citizenship, then they can apply together to become Canadian citizens.

It's not called "proof of citizenship", it's application for Canadian citizenship. (If they have lived in Canada for 3 years out of the last 5 years and not leave Canada for more than 730 days)

Sponsorship is used before they became PRs and when they were to be sponsored to become PR.

Photocopy of PR cards is required or citizenship application. You may be looking at the wrong application link.

You wife will also need language proof.

You do not need to photocopy PR cards for citizenship application.
