Hello, I got my PR through inland spousal sponsorship by my wife on July 3, 2018.

Our relationship started in 2012 and just recently we broke up because of some issues. I’m just worried that if I notify IRCC or CRA now, they might think that we faked our relationship just to get permanent residency status especially it’s only been 4 months since I became PR. What do you advise me to do?

We have a 1.5 year daughter that’s with her right now. Does anybody know what’s going to happen with my daughter? Will be able to see her legally? Or even have her custody? PLEASE HELP URGENTLY

Sorry to hear.

Your PR status is safe.

As for your questions regarding custody of your daughter, it is beyond the scope of this forum. I suggest contacting a lawyer who specializes in these matters.

Are you sure my PR is safe? IRCC wont give me a hard time about it?

It is extremely unlikely they will give you a hard time about it. With the elimination of condition 51, there is no longer a requirement to have to live with your sponsor after you become PR. The only way your PR can be revoked is in the case of obvious and proven misrepresentation (difficult to prove). The fact you and your sponsor has been together for 6 years and have a child together only helps your case that it is not misrepresentation.

Hence I would not worry about losing your PR. I would focus on your custody battle.

Just wanted to clarify that you got your PR through family reunification not spousal sponsorship since your wife is a protected person.

Thank you, this calms me down a little bit.

No, my wife is a permanent resident. I was a protected person when she sponsored me.
