Sponsor Travelling outside Canada

Hi guys,
I have a question about the sponsor travelling to visit me outside Canadamwhile an outland application is going on.
Is it ok if he comes to visit me for three months on his summer vacation? (that'd be about the time for the second stage to finalize).
we'd probably take the flight back together and then I'd land with him.
would that be ok? what does CIC say about it?
