Hi, i am a graduate from Bangladesh and applying for one year PGD in Sheridan College. It total academic cost around C$ 15000.

I am confused how i will give sponsor or who will be appropriate. I have some option and each have some drawbacks. Please someone help me choose which will best.

1. Mother. She have some saving certificate which can cover all the expenses but she is a housewife and does not pay tax. All her earning came from abroad as remitance( my father was abroad but he is now in Bangladesh and retired)

2. My uncle who is a citizen in USA. he has a grocery shop and have a steady income but i am not sure whether he can show a huge amount of money in his account for a long time( bcause business man, so it fluctuates)

3. Other than a relative. he is a friend of my father and willing to give sponsor and he have all required document but he is from other religion than mine( is it will be a problem?)

4.I heard about some student loan program where u can get a study loan by showing appropriate savings like savings certificate. if u know something about this please reply

Thanks. I find this site yesterday and reading post since than. Its really informative and everyone is cooperative.

Re: student visa rejected, will apply again,,,good idea?

I cannot see any issues. You say your mum has savings certificates that can cover your costs so whats the problem? All you need to do is cash the cert. and keep the money in your account for 4 months and when you come to fill in the study app you simply enclose a copy of your mums saving cert. and a copy of the cheque she received when she cashed them in, this is enough to show the origin of the funds. Trying to be smart by using your uncles statement or his friends etc will just get you into trouble. Your not that lucky! Or do you feel lucky?

Dear Rayhan,

1) Your mom as a sponsor, its perfect, but the situation here is, the source of income. Is it possible for your father to show his abroad employment documents and salary statements? In that case you can relate that your mother received those remittance where tax was already deducted from the foreign company.

2) Citizen uncle, businessman and do not have steady amount in bank, not impressive.

3) Sponsors can be from any religion or any race, this option might be suitable too. If he has all the required financial support, then go for it.

4) BRAC Bank and HSBC bank gives student loans, Australian Embassy, Dhaka supports it. I am not sure about Canadian Embassy, Experts please suggest.

Good luck :)

@ gm2011. no i am not trying to be smart. i give here my actual situation. my mother a can afford my expenses but i am worrying about her not having TIN and the remittance that came from abroad is not consistent but over a 6 years period and she convert this money to saving certificate. So to prove remittance statement do i have to give all my six years record?

I heard that savings certificate also applicable in the sponsor i don't need to convert it in cash. Is it true. my mother have this more that a year.

@snake
Thanks. for your help for my uncle who is in usa i can prove my relation through birth certificate but what should i write for my father's friend other than this sponsor declaration.

Hi Rayhan,

Saving certificates are acceptable, do not cash all of them before maturity, as you will lose interest money. You can do something like this, cash the amount of 1 semester and put it in bank, then the rest money show as saving certs. Thus the visa officer will understand that you have cash for giving immediate money for 1st sem+living and have saving cert which you can en-cash with a short notice.

About non-related sponsors, well i admit, its always better to give blood related sponsors, but if you do not have any other choices, then you may give it a shot, as I haven't seen any restrictions of non-related sponsors in websites yet.

Regards

@ snake.

it really help. i think i don't need to cash any saving certificate because my mother have enough cash in her account to give my first semester fee. My course fee for 2 semester is C$15000, so i have to have to give only C$7500, right? or there are other cost involved. Please reply.

1 sem fee + at least $5000 as half a year living expense in liquid form and also include the saving certificates.

Please note that you mom's money (bank+saving cert) must be more than or equal to, 1 year total tutions (books, registrations) + 1 year living cost ($10000) + both way air fare ($3000).

Regards

@snake
r u sure i have to show living expense in liquid form. my mother can give cash for fast semester tuition fee easily but to show extra 5000 than it can be a problem. I am showing saving certificate worth around C$45000. Isn't it cover the living expense.

LOL use little common sense my friend,

See this..you have liquid tuition fees for 1st sem, you paid your tuitions and you go to Canada, then how you gonna survive? You need liquid money for at least first sem to live in Canada. In that case, you might have to liquidify portion of our mom's saving certs.

Regards :)

or can i put 5000 in my moms account from my sister/aunts account. Is that will be a problem?

Can i give more than one sponsor to support my expenses.

yes Rayhan, you can put more than one sponsor, maybe mom, sister, urself etc.

Regards

Have you applied to any uni yet? if yes and if they accept you, they should send the offer letter soon.
Use your offer letter to apply for visa.
Do not send money/pay tuition fees until you get your visa.
