I have one VERY IMPORTANT question. I (sponsor) am currently outside of Canada (living in India with my husband (applicant) on entry visa, like tourist visa). I put the date of my return to Canada for March 30, 2012. Am I obligated to return on the date that I put in application, because at the time I was not sure. If the sponsor returns later than this date, can it a cause a problem. We want to return to Canada together and hope the process will not take very long. Can this create a problem in our application when it is sent to applicant's visa office in New Delhi? The sponsor has to prove their return to Canada if they are currently outside.
I also read somewhere that they will call the applicant for interview to provide proof for the return of sponsor and if you dont have enough proof for that, they can still reject your application.

Not going back on the exact date is OK - plans change. It is true that the sponsor must prove they will go back to Canada, and that the visa can be refused if the visa officer does not believe the sponsor will go back.

thanks for your reply!
is it ok if we send them my canadian bank accounts (investments and interest) and letters from my mother and my husband's father. also i included a letter of acceptance for university (old one from 2008, I took some time off in 2010) and my transcripts, stated that I plan to go back to university by september 2012. should we book my ticket to canada before they call my husband for interview? also we both stated in our letters that we will settle, have children and work in canada after getting PR. also, can we go together for interview? i read somewhere that sponsor can go with applicant for support.
thanks again :)

Preparing a plan for when you get back to Canada is good: so you can show them the arrangements you have made to support yourselves until you both get work (your money and investments), arrangements for a place to live, arrangements for school, etc. Having a plan is good, but you should also get as much real evidence as possible: so your parents could write a letter stating that the two of you can live with them until you get a job. If this is not the case, they can at least include in their letters the fact that they know you will be going back to Canada because you discussed this with them. Getting a letter from the university stating you are going back in the fall would be better than just you saying you are going to. So yes, having a clear plan to show them is good, but it is best to include as much evidence as possible as well.

The sponsor can go to the interview. Usually they just wait outside while the applicant is being interviewed, but sometimes the visa officer will ask to interview the sponsor too when they find out you are there.
