Sponsor My Mum only but How to Determine Family Members for IMM0008

Hi,

I have a question about if I only want to sponsor my mum.

I am a Canadian citizen and I am the only child, still single. My parents still married and I only would like to sponsor my mum. My dad does not want to immigrant to Canada at this time due to job reason.

My question is: my mum is principal applicant, and I am a sponsor. For question 3 on IMM0008, how many family members are included will be 1 (mum) or 2(parents) or 3(parents plus me)? Regardless whether 1 or 2, do I need to fill out both my dad and my information under Dependant(s) section?

Then, for IMM5765, what the number I shall put for box 3(A), 1 or 2? If it is 2, does it mean it does not matter whether I sponsor my mum or dad, or both; my total income will follow size of family unit for 3 persons (me, dad and mum)?

you have to prove financial for both parents even if only 1 will come

For question 3 on IMM0008, the answer is 2, your mom and dad. You are the sponsor, not a family member or dependent. Regardless of whether he wants to come to Canada or not, your father must be fully included as a dependent in the app. He must fill out the forms, submit his documents, have a medical and obtain any necessary PCCs.

It doesn't matter if your father isn't immigrating. You must still include him in the family size for LICO.
