Hello all,

I thank you in advance for your responses to my questions.

My wife, whom is Japanese, has consulted with an agency who told her that when applying for the Family Class visa within Canada, she cannot leave Canada during the entire period of processing.

Is this true? It seems a little harsh considering that, god forbid, a family member in Japan becomes sick and she would have to leave Canada to visit. Additionally, may she travel to other countries or just not to Japan? Is she a prisoner here?

We favor the inland application of course because she could be eligible to work during the processing period.

Thanks all again,

Alex

Since she does not need a visa to enter Canada, she would probably be let back in. However, there is always the risk that she would not be allowed back in, in which case the inland application is over.
People on the forum usually recommend outland for people from countries whose citizens can enter Canada without a visa. Ordinarily the processing is much faster.
