Hey all - a few quick question -

I've been pretty invested in helping my wife fill out these forms and navigating this process (I'm the sponsor. I've immigrated once before, so I'm somewhat familiar with the ins and outs of all of this.) Should I list myself as a representative? I saw some people say that it makes the process a bit smoother, as we can both access the information and act on behalf of the application. If I'm acting as a representative, it's okay if she filled out parts of this, correct?

Also - regarding the form itself -

What type of representative would I be? "Friend or Family Member?" or would I put "Other - spouse/sponsor?"

Do I have to sign where it says "Signature of Spouse or Common Law Partner for sponsorship application?"

The phone number section of the form is exceedingly wacky (weird spacing and formatting for country code, area code, and phone number). Do I just try and put the sections of my phone number in the right spaces?

Do we have to fill out IMM 5475 - "Authority to Release Personal Information" on top of the use of representative form, or do we just need the use of representative form?

Also - Is there any reason why I should list my wife as a sponsor representative for me, or does that only really go one way?

Let me know. Thanks!

You should list yourself as her representative that way you can order gcms notes on her behalf.

What about my other questions? What type of representative am I? Family/friend?
Also - do I need to sign the document as the representative AND as the sponsor? (There are signature portions for both.)

Should my wife be listed as a representative for me as well, or is that generally not how it goes?

You can do that, without being a sponsor, if you have an ATIP authorization.

Additionally, you cannot request GCMS notes on her behalf without an ATIP authorization, even if listed as representative.

Being listed as representative has no bearing on ability to request GCMS.

Should I fill out both? I was heavily invested in helping my wife with this so the representative piece makes sense to me.
Let me know. Thanks!

There's no reason why you shouldn't. Conversely, there's no clear reason that you need to. But go ahead, if they can sign the form, you're good.

I’ll fill it out. Do I need to sign the representative AND sponsor sections of the form? It seems wacky, but stranger things have happened.
Also - what type of representative am I? “Friends/Family” or “other?”

As spouse, you would count as family, yes.

In the section where the applicant signs, there is a space for the sponsorship signature as well. Do I sign that also? I'll do it lol, but I just don't want to screw it up by signing twice when I'm not supposed to, or by signing only in the representative section when I'm supposed to sign the sponsor piece as well.

In the fields that says "If you have already submitted your application" do I leave that blank or should I put N/A in those fields?

Thanks! Sorry for such granular questions.

You are over-thinking this.

If you are the sponsor and there is a space for the sponsor's signature sign there.

If you have already submitted, fill it in. If not, leave blank or write N/A.

I appreciate it, and I have to agree with your commentary - I'm overthinking this.

I do appreciate your continued assistance! I hope I can stick around here after my application is processed and reinvest in the community. This has been an infinitely helpful place.
