Dear experts,

I am a Canadian citizen who has been living exclusively in Iran for the past 3 years. My husband and I have been married for these 3 years and living together in Iran. Now we want to move to Canada.
I am aware that in order to sponser a spouse from outside Canada, you need to provide proof that you will be residing in Canada by the time that he gets his PR visa. I have a job offer from a Canadian employer, but I don't know if that is enough?
Also regarding finances, I have a job and bank account here in Iran, but do I need to open a bank account in Canada to show that I am financially able to sponser or is it unnecessary? and is my sallery here and the amount of money I have even relevant?

I would extremely appreciate it if you could help me out since I've been getting different responses from different people and am totally stressed out.

Many thanks,

Azadeh

Hi there.. I can't answer all the questions but I do know that a job offer in Canada is a great piece of evidence that you will be returning to Canada. Do you have family members already in Canada? If so, you can have them write a letter stating that they can stay with you until you find a place, or you can get a lease on a place to show that you will have somewhere to live once you come to Canada.

As for the salary, you don't have to have a certain income to sponsor your spouse. I do know that they do ask for Canadian tax documents though, so someone else will have to tell you if you should include tax information from Iran or not.

Good luck :)

Thanks for your quick reply. Actually my sister in law lives in Canada. Can a letter from her be helpful?

hello,
no need to be stressed as a canadian citizen yes you can sponsor your husband but every step has to be in the correct way
all you need to provide along with your appliantion proof of being canadian citizen, bank statement and all the rest , proof of relationship to your husband along with many other proofs and even an affidavit or proof that you will be here or move as soon as your application is approved or even better half way in process even if you have to leave your husband over there, job offer or whatever assure the officer that you are willing to live in canada after approval
officer has to be satisfied that you have ties to canada after approval , open a bank account, place where you will stay on arrival , ties to canada school , plans together along for the future with your husband, maybe such as buying a house or having new business or even school
relationship in canada such as your sister means a lot that you have family ties is good too
you dont have to have big money to sponsor but you should at least have enough to carry along with the process and its cost there is no minumum or maximum under the family category

check the website for cic and it will give you a better idea and there is many lawyers that are ready to help in your process if you really need a succesful application
good luck
