Speeding tickets in Immigration matters?

Does speeding tickets makes difference, if it does up to what extent?

At my interview, I was asked by visa officer that have I ever got tickets? I said yes I got one for using my cellphone GPS while driving( although I am fighting it and its date is next month) then she asked specifically have your ever got speeding ticket? I said No, but we all should know about this thing. I think lot of us don't know. Can other people put light on this.

I know using using cellphone while driving is violation of traffic ticket. but speeding ticket is definitely not as simple as that. I must have something to do with criminality.

Weird question, as speeding is not a criminal code offence in Canada
