Special character in last name

Hi together,

I'm currently working on the last form for my visa application and I came across this question: Have you ever used any other name? (IMM0008ENU - Personal question 2)
My last name contains a special German character "ü" which usually gets translates as "ue".
I have lived the last 3 years in Australia so most of my utility bills and Australian documents show my last name as "u" or "ue".

Just wanted to hear how other applicants with special characters in their name handle this?
