Hello,

My partner and I are going to arrive in Canada in the middle of Aug 2022.
I am going to stay in order to begin my studies as of Sep 2022, but my partner is going to get back to Europe for a couple of months (work purposes; cannot avoid it). What should we do?

1) Activate both visas in Aug 2022, then he would travel to Europe and come back to Canada in a matter of months,
or
2) Do not activate his OWP in Aug 2022 (just to travel utilizing an eTA), and he would eventually activate it himself once he gets back to Canada at a later time.

I have no clue whether the second variant is even feasible, though I don't know either whether he can be out of Canada for several months while his OWP is active/valid.

Would you please suggest me the proper solution?

If both of you are approved, either way is fine...your partner will be granted WP at POE once arrived, you cant do on his behalf and he can do it any time provided it is not too close to expiry date

Would activate OWP in August 2022 so there aren’t any issues with OWP expiring if there are any delays in return to Canada.
