Dear All
May be these are already answered in this forum, sorry for being repetitive, kindly reply if you have info

1. At what stage are we eligible to apply for a job? (Once visa issued/after PR card is obtained/after SIN is procured); just to know how early we can start searching for job. Always will feel comfortable to have a job in hand prior to landing
2. If you are on a working VISA in the USA but if the VISA is an extended one (I 94 only valid), can we go to Canada and complete the immigration formalities and return to USA? My understanding is, the I 94 will be taken by US Immigration office while leaving USA and we will not be allowed to re enter. Can you confirm?
3. Is there a link or discussion thread in this forum which does a comparison of all the provinces of Canada w.r.t
1. Cost of living (stay)
2. Job prospects
3. Communication channels(phone, transit facilities)
4. Education for kids
5. Local tax difference
6. Insurance for life and vehicle
7. Security/Crime rate
9. Population and land area
10.Types of Industries
A quick snapshot would help all of us.

Thank You and God bless all!

You can apply for job once you got a work permit (for temporary workers) and SIN (for PR and citizens)

>>>> just search for the sites advertising jobs, make your numerous profile. Canadians will never give job to anyone without one being in Canada. If you send resume from your own country they will just keep it aside, you will never get a mail or call from them. You can work after applying for SIN card( i,e 1st day being in Canada). Here jobs are for everyone , may be not in his field, but it takes time to search and work. May be 2-3-4 months.

TORONTO TORONTO TORONTO

1. Cost of living (stay) >> rooms for stay $ 300- 400, basement apartment $ 650- 750 ( most of utilities included), apartment 1 bed room - starts $ 900 - 1200, 2 bedroom apartment $ 1100-1400.

2. Job prospects > Good

3. Communication channels(phone, transit facilities) > TTC $ 2.5 go anywhere- on bus- subway-street car. Mobile Rogers( will rob your pocket), Wind ( does not have service all over ), Bell ( I never tried to know). Transit by public transport is cheap and cabs are really expensive.

4. Education for kids >>. Public schools - free, lots around, here one should see the quality of school first and then hire an apartment or buy an apartment/ house.

5. Local tax difference >> HST, PST is same on goods, house tax is more in Toronto than surroundings

6. Insurance for life and vehicle > Lots of option to buy new and second cars, i feel insurance is highest in world, with G2 licence $ 300-400 per month and for whole year. Once you have G then it will fall to $ 200. Never compare it with US.

7. Security/Crime rate >> Good security, crime rate low.

9. Population and land area >> 5 million in Toronto, Canada have lots of land area at disposal. 90 % of Canadian poputaltion lives near US Border. I am happy to be away from crowd back home.

10.Types of Industries>> Most of the types, except mining, petro, fishry, logging.

>>>I must tell , a lot of people are very friendly. I am not having Health Card and I visited a Doctor at Barandon Gate and he did not charge me and told me to come any time and need not pay.

FEW THINGS I LIKE HERE:-

>>>People ( motor drivers ) would stop for you to cross the road.
>>>People would stop the lift for you if they see you coming.
>>>People would never glare at you.
>>>People at customer care will most of time listen to your properly.
>>>Bank account can be opened in 10 minutes, no photograph required, unsecured credit card is issued even without a job - limit is $500. TD Bank.

>>>Being handicap back home I had no chance travelling alone or going on public transport, but here it is easy and fun. This country is heaven for disabled people.

I LOVE TO BE HERE. I LOVE CANADA.
