After reading through much of this forum, I understand that it is quicker to do an OUTLAND sponsorship for my spouse even if she is currently living here. It is my understanding that she MAY have to return home for an interview at some point but it is still much faster to get through the process.

We have started to fill out all the required forms but there are some parts that seem to be worded specifically for the applicant living abroad. My wife is here on a 1 year work permit. (canadian experience class) We were married in August in Sweden and she arrived at the end of October. Should we be filling it out with her address here (which IS where she's currently living) even though we're applying as an OUTLAND??

Also, we have a few other questions.

When the form asks for dates (From-to)... what do they want if it's to "present"... do we just leave that area blank?

We are filling in the forms using Adobe but some of the text entry fields aren't big enough. They specifically say to not use abbreviations so should we print it off and write it in manually? Or just use the box underneath?

About the fee schedule... Do we pay the applicant fee plus the sponsor fee PLUS the "right of permanent residence" fee? or just the first 2?

About the police check... My wife had to get one for the application for the Canadian experience program. She got 2 copies. They're from October. Is it recent enough to include or will she have to get another one?

About the medical exam... My wife had to get a whole series of tests before coming here on the experience program. Do we need to get another for this now?

I think that's all for now. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! :-) You'll be going through London VO so definitely, outland is the way to go as London is a fast VO

We have started to fill out all the required forms but there are some parts that seem to be worded specifically for the applicant living abroad. My wife is here on a 1 year work permit. (canadian experience class) We were married in August in Sweden and she arrived at the end of October. Should we be filling it out with her address here (which IS where she's currently living) even though we're applying as an OUTLAND?? yes no problem. Outland refers to where your file will be processed (outside of Canada) and which forms you're using, not where the applicant is. There are plenty of people doing that, and it's not frowned upon by CIC etc, so no worries.

Also, we have a few other questions.

When the form asks for dates (From-to)... what do they want if it's to "present"... do we just leave that area blank? just put today's date, and add an explanation sheet saying that it's still accurate, but that you had to enter the date - and if you have a final date (for work etc) then you can specify more... some forms won't validate if you don't enter a date

We are filling in the forms using Adobe but some of the text entry fields aren't big enough. They specifically say to not use abbreviations so should we print it off and write it in manually? Or just use the box underneath? you can always attach a separate paper. So start the explanation on the entry field, then add something "please attached continuing explanation etc, and make sure that you clearly indicated on the attached sheet which question you're answering to (name of applicant, name of the form, question number etc

About the fee schedule... Do we pay the applicant fee plus the sponsor fee PLUS the "right of permanent residence" fee? or just the first 2? it's your choice, but if you don't pay everything up-front, it will create a delay at the end. So best is to pay the whole total - 1040 - and be done with it, otherwise your file might be delayed for 2 to 4 weeks

About the police check... My wife had to get one for the application for the Canadian experience program. She got 2 copies. They're from October. Is it recent enough to include or will she have to get another one? depends on when you are sending your application - the police certificate needs to reach CIC maximum 3 months after being issued, so you might have to get new ones, just make sure that they are still valid otherwise you will get your application either delayed or returned...

About the medical exam... My wife had to get a whole series of tests before coming here on the experience program. Do we need to get another for this now? yes, she has to do a new one. The ones done for PR are different than the CEC and she will need to add a form (given by the doctor) to the application to show that she has done it. So she had to do them again, get the form from the doctor, and add it to the application. She can do it in Canada in any of the designated practitioner from CIC website, just call around to ask how much they charge, and what they need in terms of pictures etc. It's best to leave it to the "last minute" before you're ready to send it, because your medicals are valid for one year and will determine the landing date - so if you do them today, you will have to land before the 17th of December 2013, which should be fine, but you want to have the medicals as close to the day you're sending the application as possible.

I think that's all for now. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Good luck on your application!
Sweden :-)

Velkommen! :-) indeed it takes a long time to print, read through, and fill it out - but it's feasible! :-) don't hesitate to come back and ask more questions whenever needed!
Lycka til,
Sweden ( eller Sverige! :-) )
