Software Engineers-pls update on how to get Canadian certification/Recognition

Hi Friends,

I thought of starting this thread for the bebefit of all Software Engineers/Developers. As We have realized, having Canadian recognition improves the chance of getting a job in Canada. So we had better prepare our selves before making the move.
Lets's talk about how software Engineers while being out side Canada earn some kind of Canadian cetification or Skill assessment done on our academic qalification and experience. what are the IT professional bodies available in Canada where we can get membership to improve our chances of getting a job in Canada. We know in Australia, there is the ACS which assesses the skills of IT People.

So, I invite all the software people to share there ideas and knowledge on this thread so that we all can benefit.

I'd first try for some vendor certifications like MCSD of MS and ORACLE if I was a DB guy.
me too looking for some Canadian IT professional membership chances. British Computer Society gives it easy with only Bachelors/Master's in IT field. Anyone else with any idea?

Can we get our IT Skills assessed by BCS and Is It recognized in Canada ?

please enlighten ?
What are the Oracle Certifications that are recognized ?

this is for Canada. I am still going thru this.

BCS is also good but they charge $200 for membership.

But I am seriously thinking to get both before I send my Detail package to my Visa office.
