Hi,

I am new to the Canada Immigration and new to this forum as well so please bare with me.

I am a British citizen (Currently based in UK) looking to move to Canada on FSW program. I have over 7 years of software development experience with a masters degree. I am currently married and spouse also has master's degree but currently not employed due to kids.

My question would I be able to immigrate on FSW to Canada? I believe one of the NOC list that I come under is 2173.

I have done some research before coming to this forum and I am not sure if I will be able to apply for FSW?

If not what are my other options?

Many Thanks

Hello,
As the FSW program is closed temporarily (till early 2013), the only way you can apply for Canada currently is if you have an AEO (Arranged Employement Offer) from a Canadian co. or if you are eligible for any of the Provincial Nomination (PNP) program. You could also try Quebec Skilled Worker (QSW) if you have some knowledge of French.

Thanks for the reply. I know the FSW is closed and I have looked at the new proposed changes. Provided it goes in next early 2013 what are my chances of getting FSW with new rules? From my research with new rules I do qualify with Age, Education, Experience and English language but I dont understand the way NOC codes are interpreted. So I am not been able to determine if my work experience points can be included in the calculation?

Thanks

Hi,
It is impossible to predict what the exact new FSW rules are going to be before they are actually announced and implemented. However from what I understand, the work experience pts. for outside-Canada experience will be reduced so pl. try and calculate accordingly. Most probably many NOCs (if not all) will be allowed with Capping of applications and ur NOC might also be allowed (if lucky). You might want to monitor the situation and keep preparing all relevant documents including those for credentials verification which can be submitted as soon as the application/verification process is announced.

Thanks very much for the response. I guess I'll have to wait until the new rules are officially published. Does anyone know when the new rules will be published by. Becouse of the cap on the number of applications I will need time to prepare for IELTS etc.

One more ... Do I qualify for Working Holiday maker visa? I am not in full time study but UK is one of the country listed...

Information and criteria for the working holiday visas is in the link below. Note that the cap for working holiday visas has already been reached for this year. If you qualify, you will have to wait until they start accepting applications for next year to apply.
