Just got a direct email from Ottawa asking me to send through the copy of my passport and photos. Is that it? What's gonna happen now? Are they gonna send me the PR card? How long will it take? Do I need to change my SIN number?

Wow! Congratulation. after you received passport and COPR back from Ottawa, you have to crossing border (landing) that final PR procedure then you can apply new sin number and waiting PR card around 2 months.

Welcome to Canada :)

Thank you, I actually won't be sending my passport, I'm form a visa exempt country so only have to send a copy. Do you know how long before they send me CoPR letter? Can I act as a permanent resident based on CoPR (like apply for a different job since I work on positive LMO at the moment)

I second this question, can a CoPR function as proof of PR status? Can I use it for my job?

The CORP doesn't make you a permanent resident. You won't be a permanent resident until you have officially landed. You can certainly start looking for a new job. But you cannot work as a permanent resident until you have actually landed.

No - you will need a new SIN.

So once I cross the border with this letter to activate my PR I will have landed, right? Even though I won't have my PR card yet. Correct?

congratulations!!!

;D

can you share your timeline?

I haven't been taking notes but I applied in April and I honestly think that I would have gotten it as soon as June if it wasn't for the Police Clearance from Mexico which took 4 months via Canadian Embassy in Mexico. Person who worked on my app;lication must have been very efficient as my medicals were approved immediately and all that.

Hi,
yes, once you land at the border you'll become PR. After landing go to Service Canada and obtain your new SIN. Congrats.

Congrats.

Wish you luck
