Hi everyone,

I have a quick question that on my employment letters, pay stubs and T4 forms, the second last letter in my last name is 'u' whereas on my passport the second last letter in my last name is 'i'. Only one of my Notice of Assessment has 'i' as a second last letter in my last name. Can it create any kind of problems. Is there any thing that I can do about it?

Even though SIN number is same in all the cases but I guess we are told to black out the SIN number when providing T4 forms and NOAs.

Please provide some help on it. Thanks a lot!

If I were you, then I will add a cover letter to my application, and explain this situation to CIC

As grishan1 suggested, please keep a cover letter explaining why the difference is. I had spelling differences in my last name between my passport, other canadian documents and my birth certificate. I kept a cover letter explaining the same and I was through.

Btw where did you learn about blacking out the SIN number? I haven't heard of it.

It is there in the checklist... Point 10...

The checklist was recently upgraded and I think this is only in the new checklist..

Oh ok. Thanks for the info.

@cecnov2012
Can you please let me know what sort of covering letter you had put in explaining the difference. Because in my wife's birth certificate her fathers name is missing an alphabet. Just thinking of sending a explanation, along with my PCC. I received by AoR last week

In my case it was like phonetic difference. I explained such that during early days birth certificate was issued handwritten in my mother tongue but later when they fed into computer system they had entered the name with different spelling.

Thanks a lot man. I actually talked to CIC call centre today. They said the same that I have to provide an explanation letter.
