Hi.. New to forum,

In 2008 I managed to attain Canadian Permanent Residence for my wife and I under the skilled worker classification only to be trounced at the last moment by family issues which, unfortunately prevented us from landing and registering before it elapsed.
Due to difficulties in getting the visas in the first instance and the constraints of them being issued we only had seven weeks to get gone. We missed the boat, literally, and when attempting to re-apply found that my skilled worker category had been wiped off the entry criteria and was no longer eligible.
Gutted is the only word to describe the feeling, having dealt with the process personally before I was willing to go through the process once more to try and acheive the goal but fell foul at every hurdle. I know it's not the case but just in June 2008 we were viable prospects to Canada and in August 2008 we were deemed worthless.
Like many of you Canada has become a more than a dream or escape it is a passion that fills every part of you, success or failure is not the issue, it is where you succeed or fail that matters and it matters to be a part of Canada.
We still spend every moment in British Columbia that our current lives can afford us but it is not like being part of it.
It was certainly a depressing thought to realise that after three and a half years of adherance and persuance of the Canadian Immigration application process I was no longer worthy so asked the advice of a professional who more or less told me the same.
If any of you know of a Canadian Immigration Consultant out there that you think can help I would be pleased to hear from you. I will never consider it a lost cause.

Regards,

YVRSLAMMER.

Unfortunately w/out being on the 38 NOC list u have no choice under FSW, for now. U can pursue the other categories though, if u stand eligible. Like CEC, PNP... & FSW with an AEO.

I feel sorry for your lost chance... May u succeed the next time... & soon !

Qorax.

Thanx for the reply Qorax,

Could you expand on those abreviations, it could save some time navigating the CIC website.

Many Thanks.

i feel sorry for this kind of experience... there are things that you may have to consider that maybe canada wasn't really for you... but browsing through this forum is the one thing that keeps my head up and makes me think i have a very good chance.

Lola,

I must admitt I have thought the same, but Canada welcomes all but not as readily as it would have you beleive.
There has to be some modecom of common sense to these issues especially when I keep receiving posts regarding the shortage of skilled labour and the need for English speakers. I am sure they have reason for such a convoluted immigration system but cannot understand this time issue business, it's a liitle ludicrous to say the least. Perhaps your right.... maybe it's time to search elsewhere.

Regards.

Look at this way, you were given your chance. You had your PR visa, you could have "landed" in Canada and returned to your home country the next day to tie up loose ends. You choose not to use the visa.

WHAT A WASTE... Whatever your situation was, it's almost insulting for all of us who have been putting all our efforts on getting the PR.

So do you think that people here will know more than an immigration professional who told you the same answers as CIC?

Shakira,

Thanks for that... hope your experiences are better. I ain't looking for sympathy I'm looking for intelligible constructive advice if this is the best you can do I fear for your future.

My experience is that I've been waiting since 2005, and almost 5 years have passed since I started putting my application together. So, from that personal perspective, hearing that someone got the PR visa and didn't use it makes me quite upset. I never meant to offend you or anything. However, realistically speaking, there's a slim chance that people here would give you better advice than the immigration consultants or lawyers you've talked to.

You yourself said "maybe it's time to search elsewhere"... maybe the best thing for you is to move on and look for another country to migrate to.... that's my constructive advice.
