Pros and cons of each? Is applying for the multiple entry visa more likely to result in a refusal?

If you plan to let your spouse come to Canada often then I bet its more practical to go for multiple entry visa vs. a single entry visa. The cost for multiple entry visa is double the cost of single entry visa but both have practically same requirements you have to submit.

I'm currently based in the Philippines and I have applied/renewed my visitor's visa for 3 times now since 2005. For the first 2 visas I have initially applied for and renewed the validity of it was for 3 years and the last one they issued me a 5 year validity multiple entry visa. Base on that if your spouse will be coming in/out of Canada for more than 2 times within 3 years then just go with the multiple entry one but then again computing the cost will depend on the validity of the visa they will issue you. Some got multiple entry visa that is valid only for 1 year or less its a case to case basis at least for my experience here in the Philippines and am not quite familiar with other country's visa issuance.

In my case, I submitted a letter of invite from my spouse (who lives in Canada) and I believe it did help get the visa issued. I have also shown enough proof to convince the visa officer that I will be going back to the Philippines (letter of employment from a company stating I was granted vacation leaves, proof of assets and enough funds) This is needed to assure the Canadian government somehow that I will not overstay.

May I know from which country does your spouse intend to submit the visa application? With my little knowledge hopefully I have helped you somehow.

she from vietnam, actually we are not married until dec this year, we were just discussing how we can continue see each other after i return to canada, and we were unsure how successful we would be in getting a multiple visa to visit

she has no family in canada, has lots of assets, has lived in USA for a year as student, travelled to singapore twice, china, cambodia and thailand, and all her immediate family live in vn

we were thinking if we send a letter explaining that she will not overstay because we have a PR application in process and dont want to give it any red flags it jeopardize it by overstaying, but i dont know if thatll work

also, does everyone who apply for a visitor visa get an interview by a VO? or is it only some people?
