simultaneous application for child's citizenship and passport

I am a Canadian living in the US. I'm applying for my two children's Canadian citizenship and passports. Can I apply for both documents concurrently or do I have to gain citizenship documentation first?

A few questions about proper documentation...

What form do I need as a Canadian living in US applying for my US born child?
Many forms I've seen ask for MY certificate of citizenship number. Is this on my birth certificate or passport, or do I need to aquire this prior to applying for my child?
