Hello
I am filling my residency calculator sheet. My question is should my time away from canada start from the date i board the aircraft or the date my passport gets stamped?eg when i leave for india i board the aircraft on 1st Jan but my passport gets stamped on 3rd by indian authorities.

The calculator sheet itself will take into consideration the day you board the flight as day in Canada, so don't worry and start by including the day of travel to the day you landed back to Canada.

I indicated day I boarded aircraft as day I leave Canada. There was one incident when I boarded on Oct 12 and arrived in another country on Oct 14 and got stamped then, but I indicated Oct 12 as day I left Canada. That day will be counted as day in Canada.

The day you left canada.. dont apply immediately after you qualify..keep some buffer time too.

Thank you all. I completed the required days in early Jan uary and plan to apply by feb 28..so that gives me room ..i just hope they dont implement
any sudden changes

This is not a silly question. Some applicants made the mistake of counting their absence from the day they arrived (stamped) at a foreign country, which resulted in denial of application.
