Signing bonus before CoPR.. please help!!!!! :)

Hey guys,

Not sure if any of you guys are familiar with this subject but I thought I would throw it out there.
I got my PPR today and sent my passport to Ottawa.

My work permit was expired and I couldn't extend it so I was staying in Canada as a visitor while I was waiting for my PR.

My previous employer was nice enough and told me I could come back to work with them once my visa issue was resolved.
Today I let them know I got my PPR but obviously not Copr yet.

The question is, they want to sign me up ASAP and give me a signing bonus.
I wanted to take some time off and leave Canada for a month on a vacation before I go back to work, but I could really use that signing bonus right now (since I've stayed here as a visitor for last few months, I was burning thru my savings)

Is it legal for me to accept the signing bonus before my CoPR as a visitor status or Do I have to wait till I get my CoPR?

If so then yes. But I suspect not.

I have a SIN from when I had my work permit but since that's expired I am guessing it's not "active"

I just thought it wouldn't be an issue since signing bonus isn't classified as a "wage" but I might as well just wait for my CoPR!

Temporary SIN #'s starting with 9 having an expiry date which matches teh expiry of your WP.

So the answer is legally you cannot accept any form of renumeration.
