Signatures in Chinese ?

Hi,

This may seem trivial, but we are struggling with the right format to provide the signatures on application forms for a Chinese applicant.

1. Should it be in Hanzi (characters), or the Pinyin English equivalent, or both ?
2. The Chinese always write characters with last name followed by first name. If writing in Pinyin, it would seem appropriate to follow the English convention of first name, last name. Any disagreement?
3. Are we getting worked up over nothing ? However I did see one post where an officer sent back a form because they doubted the authenticity of a signature. Are there any guidelines for signatures, particularly for other languages?

I sent the Hong Kong visa office the same question and they replied stating the following:

"Kindly note that your wife's signature must be her regular signature, whether it be in English or Chinese characters."

It's always the small details that seem to cause the most consternation...been there, done that.
