Hi, just wondering if anybody knows if I can add my sister's child for sponsorship? I have submitted the application to sponsor my mom with my sister as her dependent but since my sister has now a baby we are considering my niece be included in the application.

I have received the letter from CIC in Mississauga informing me that they will be starting to process the application and have requested me for some more documents including my mom's application sheet.

I will be notifying CIC about my sister's birth but not sure if they will give me the info whether I can include my niece in the sponsorship.

Anybody knows? Please and thank you

I don't think you have any choice... Because the new baby is part of the dependants "tree" she will need to be included and examined. I have a feeling this this may also add complexity in terms of the minimum income requirement for you as sponsor.

Thank you, I think mine and my husband's income would meet the requirement. I would really want to include my niece if possible.

You definitely need to inform CIC really fast about the birth of the baby and then start gathering the documents to include her in the application (passport for the baby is crucial).
