Hi,

I want to get clarity on showing funds for study visa to Canada.

I read on a third-party website that creating a GIC account (may be it is a kind of fixed deposit account) of $10000 with Scotia Bank is sufficient proof of funds.

Is it true and acceptable?
Can it be made anytime or should it be few months old?

Thanks & Regards,

It's not sufficient for proof of funds. It's sufficient to show you have enough funds to cover living expenses only. To be approved for a study permit, in addition to the $10K, you also need to show you have enough money to cover first year tuition.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

In that case, how much old (in months) the funds should be?

Thanks & Regards,
