Hello Guys

I am confused about sponsorship application for my spouse.

I am PR living in Ontario Canada and my wife is living in INDIA. I was preparing documents for PR application but due to COVID-19 , I got lay off from work. I am receiving CERB from government.

I saw on www.canada.ca this note
Can I sponsor my spouse, parent or grandparent if I’m receiving a Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) payment?
Yes, if you’re receiving CERB you’re still eligible to sponsor, as long as you meet all the requirements. CERB would not be considered social assistance.

When I see checklist it says if I am not working then I need to show documents which can prove that I can support my wife.

I talked to CIC agent today and he said same thing that CERB is not social assitance but He was not able to answer that Do I need any job to sponser my wife or not.
As I dont have any other income or saving I am only dependent on CERB.

In this situation If I submit PR application , Do anyone have idea that there can be a rejection due to Unemployment ?

Thank you so much in advance

If you can prove you support your wife through savings, her savings, family financial support and proof of future employment you should be fin. It all depends on your personal situation.
