Dear respected Seniors,

I am trying to apply for FSW NOC 2171 but when I count my possible points I only seem to get 66 unless I get 12 points for 3-4 years of work experiences which includes Internship and College computer Lab monitor).

Factor 1: Education Maximum 25 points 21 (Bachelors 4 years)
Factor 2: Ability in English and/or French Maximum 28 points 22 (7.5 average)
Factor 3: Work experience Maximum 15 points ? (3-4 Years)
Factor 4: Age Maximum 12 points 12(32 years)
Factor 5: Arranged employment in Canada Maximum 10 points 0
Factor 6: Adaptability Maximum 10 points 0

I spent lots of money ($230.00 for WES, $190.00 IELTS and $200.00 for MISC) and time already and just realized I might not have enough points.

what should I do? :'(

12 points aren't granted. If you have 3-4 years of experience then the maximum you'll get is 11 points.

If you don't have a minimum of 67 points, you shouldn't bother applying since you will be automatically refused.

Are u married? u can ask ur spouse to write ielts n u get 5 points for that.

Well, it seems that you'll need to propose and get married in case you are not already ;D, this way you can claim 5 extra points after ielts

Anything below 4 years of exp (3-4 Years) you get 11 points (maximum).

Above 4 years until 6 - 13 points.

They also depend upon the type of documents you are able to provide to support the experience.

I have more than 7 Years experience in my NOC but my documents (Letter of Reference) are solid for 4 years only. Hence I am not expecting the full 15 points.

You have to base your decision (apply or not apply) on the points you think are absolutely solid.

Thank you all for the quick turnaround.

I am married and My wife does have bachelor's degree from Nepal.

I don't know if there is any points for her education, if ECA is done but I might ask her to go for IELTS General Test if that will give us some points.

Your spouse's education is not useful in terms of getting points. The only option you have is to have her take IELTS ASAP. Also, how are you counting points for your IELTS? Are you getting 22 points based on individual modules?

give us your IELTS individual scores - reading/writing/listening/speaking.

If your spouse, scores well in IELTS then you'll obtain 5 points.

good luck

Thanks guys,

My IELTS Score are as follows:

IELTS GENERAL training Date Taken: NOV 2013

Listening 7.0
Reading 7.5
Writing 7.0
Speaking 7.5
Overall band Score 7.5

Sorry, you don't qualify. Your only hope now is your spouse's IELTS. Since 2171 is filling up very quickly, you need to really work on that ASAp if you want to make the cap.

At least let this be a lesson learned. Calculating points to see if you qualify should have been one of the first things you should have done so you could prepare accordingly.

If you if spouse have a relative in canada, that would be +5 points...

Or

Let your wife write IELTS.. That's +5 points..

You will get total of 10 more points, if ever...

Thank you all for wonderful suggestions. I will have my wife to go for IELTS Test soon.

She will need IELTS Academic test to continue her education here in US and I am wondering if she can go for Academic test rather than GT which will serve both purpose.

Academic tests are NOT accepted for FSW purpose. Only general will do.
