Should I contact Immigration and how is best?

Hey everyone!

My spouse application is 3 months past the estimate process time. It's just says application received. The consultant who did our application says it's because we filed where I work legally past 7 years, not my country of citizenship where the wait time is much longer. She tells me I have to wait another 11 months before she will contact the embassy to enquire about our status. Is there a best way for me to check our file?

A couple of questions: has the sponsorship been approved? Which visa office are you dealing with?

Usually you are asked to wait until the estimated processing time has passed before inquiring about the status of your application. You are well past that point now. I think your consultant is nuts telling you to wait another 11 months. Based on what you told in your post, it is time to find out what is happening.

Two places you can start:
1. Have your sponsor's MP make an inquiry. Get your sponsor to call the local MP's office and ask them to find out what is going on.
2. Order GCMS notes. I am not familiar with the procedure, maybe someone else can fill you in on this.
