Hello everyone,

My visa got refused for the second time. It got refused on the following grounds:

1. I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

2. Your proposed studies are not reasonable in the light of: your level of establishment, language abilities, financial ability and I am not satisfied that you are a genuine student and that you will depart Canada at the end of your authorized stay.

Here's my profile:

-Education qualification: Master of Commerce(2013, India)

-Became a certified Web Developer(changed stream)( 2014)

-Worked as a trainee Web developer for 1.5 yrs

-Worked as a freelance Web Developer for 3.5years.

- After which I quit working and appeared for IELTS in February 2019

-IELTS : Overall band score 8.0,( (Listening-8.5, Speaking:8.0, Reading:7.5, Writing: 7.0). My course's requirement is 6.0.

I got accepted for a Post graduate software testing diploma program , but my study permit got refused. After consultation, I was told that one of the major reasons of concern is my course is not reasonable in the light of my previous education and work experience, And I understand how it could look like that I'm not a genuine student. So in the light of the recent developments, my consultants have suggested me to change my program. Now the thing is, if I change the course to web development and re-apply.

Would changing program after being rejected twice will reflect poorly on my visa application?

Also, would it still be a problem if I changed it my course to pg diploma in Web development, because I have a Masters in Commerce and not in Web development?

I'm really clueless as to how to go about this situation? I would really be grateful if I could get some insights on this.

So you plan to change to a web developer course but you already worked as a web developer for 5 years so how can that course improve on 5 years work experience ? Plus you are also a certified web developer so the question will likely be why you need to come to Canada for that course when you are already experienced and certified.

Well that is a fair assessment , and that is precisely the reason why I applied for Software testing in the first place, because It is something I want to pursue and learn . And based on my experiences, I zeroed in on Software Testing as it is something I could easily transition into. The thing is, my visa has been rejected twice more or less for the similar reasons i.e. my proposed studies are not reasonable in light of previous studies/work experience( this was one of the reasons of first rejection), The reasons for the second rejection is what I mentioned above. And based on these rejections I was advised by my consultants that I should change my program, and should pursue something that relates to my past education. This is something which I didn't understand, and that's why I'm trying find a way out in here.

Do you have any idea how should I go about this? Should I tell them why software testing is a good option for me or Should I opt for a two year Web development and digital marketing diploma/ specialization (The one I pursued was just a certification). I don't know I'm feeling really lost. Please do share your opinion on this.

why are you coming to canada to study something like this instead of back home? is your masters in commerce also acquired back home?

and i think theres no way your proposed course of study will ever be approved since you said you alr have relevant work experience as a web developer, so studying web development/software thingy wouldnt generally make any sense in terms of "career progression".

unless maybe you can prove that a proper degree in it is needed for career promotion but idk how can you possibly prove that since companies can potentially anyhow say that its required just so that you can use it as a reason to enter canada.
You have definitely pointed out some important questions. I'm trying to address them, but I'm not entirely sure if it's convincing. For instance, the certification I did was of 3 months, that too I did it like 5 years ago. For web development there aren't any elaborated programs, which are offered by colleges here. They are offered by training institutes and they only issue certifications . The course I might change to and re-apply is, Web development and Digital Marketing, it's a two year program. So the diploma/specialization is a more comprehensive program as compared to certification. .In addition to that, it might also help me to start up something similar in my home country, as there aren't any viable options available. here. I don't know if it's convincing. What do you think? Would it make sense if I approach it in this way. I would really appreciate I you could share your thoughts on this .
As far as your second question is concerned, Yes, I did my masters from my home country.

Or do you have any idea on what might make sense in terms of career progression? If you do, please do share.

Also does changing program from Software testing to Web development and Digital Marketing would reflect poorly on my visa application?, because my first two applications mentioned software testing.
