Should i apply for an extension

I am currently 19. i came to Canada in 2023 with my family on a High school study permit and finished highschool here. When I graduated highschool I took a year off before going to university, I switched to a Visitor Record and then got an OWP. Im ready to go to school now and applied for a SP but it hasn't been approved yet and school started so I deferred, now my WP is expiring should I apply for an extension?

I am eligible under: dependent of family member who applied for Permanent Residence.

My main question is I am not too sure if applying for an extension will affect my SP already in processing
