My partner is now starting to fill-in the forms for the sponsor and he came across to the question about previous relationship..He has a 9 yr.old daughter from his previous gf and they lived together for 4 yrs. When he filed his taxes he only declared for 1 year that he is in the common-law relationship and that was in 2001 but in the following years till last year before we lived together he declared single...

Question, should he put no to the question? i told him that CIC might find it out later on and will be a problem.. any insights about this? pls? Thank you...:)

He should disclose it.

Assuming he is the applicant, he should also get a medical exam for his daughter. It preserves his right to sponsor her in the future, should something happen to her mother or if she decides she wants to come and live in Canada. Alternatively, they will require that he file a terminal disclaimer (an affidavit that says he understands she can never be sponsored in the family class by him.)
