As some of you may allready know my profile, I am not going to paraphrase it again; for others please have a look here

Well it seems If I apply in these two univ I might have a chance to get an admit

Royal Roads (RRU) - Master of Global Mgmt
FDU - Master of Admin Science

They both are not absolutely not the best, with FDU still an average univ . They are still hopefully better than my present or rather any college in my opinion and I am more inclined towards a master degree. Although I am all set to fly next month but mere thoughts of spending 25K CAD on college Post Degree programme doesnt really satiate me when for the same money I can get a masters degree.

My major question is RRU course starts in may 2015 (I am late for Sept 2014) and Ill be flying next month. So there would be a difference of 8 months from Sep. Now naturally since I have allready paid a sems fee at North Island College, ill be spending a sem studying there (approx 4 months), however this gap in between would be an issue later on while extending student permit visa and the 4 months I would not be studying based on new rules ? Can I work in the remaining 4 months (full time/part time)?

Second question is it worth taking all this trouble, wasting my time , a semester fee in changing institution from one to another? I spoke to a RRU Indian rep and he says there wouldnt be any advance standing given for subjects allready read at
North Island College, so practically a sem fee is wasted there.

Please guide.

No - you won't be able to work.

But my study permit, remains valid right ? So what should I do in this period. I mean I cant just sit there and do nothing and returning back to India wouldnt be an option.

You'll need to notify CIC that you are changing institutions. CIC has publicly said they are now going to be cracking down on students who come on study permits but don't study - so if you take four months off, CIC may decide you have dropped out of school which could certainly create issues for your study permit / create a situation where you are asked to leave Canada.

During the four months you are taking off, you will just have to sit there. It will be illgal for you to work since you are no longer attending a full time program.

It would be a much better idea not to have a semester with no studies and to continue with your full time studies until you are ready to switch schools (i.e. complete two semesters at North Island). If you continue your full time studies rather than taking four months off, then you will continue to be able to work part time.

Alternatively, don't fly to Canada next month. Get a refund on your North Island fees, get your study permit changed and don't come to Canada until you are ready to start studying next May. This is the best option.

Makes sense, I was trying the alternative method but NIC doesnt refund fees and thats a major hassle. I guess than i am stuck with this college or I might have to take a transfer in any post bacc programme in a univ (Thompson rivers has post bacc programme starting Jan onwards), Which brings up another point. Is a Post bacc programme better than a college post degree ?

Ah - that's too bad they don't refund fees. That certainly makes your options a lot more limited.

Good luck.

I know. Can you just clarify one more thing, since you are a employer would you a prefer post bacc credential from a univ (TRU)over post degree certificates from a college. TRU doesnt offer any internship too, what is your take. Its not an mba but is it better than a college PG programme? Please advice

If you are not enrolled/registered, your SP will automatically becomes invalid after 90 days (New rules; 1st June/14).
