Hey all, just wanted to say that I've been a lurker here for a while now. With all of your helpful threads, answers and tips, I managed to put together the application for myself and my husband and sent it off this morning all perfectly packaged and beautiful.

Therein lies the problem/issue, I seem to be panicking now. My husband and I have a joint bank account and insurance with each other as the beneficiary etc. Everything in that area is fine, however my husband and I opened the joint bank account less than a week before we were married. We had been living together prior to this, but we figured that we wanted to keep our accounts separate until closer to the time that we were to be married. I always thought of joint bank accounts as being something more for a married couple, personally. I'm worried that this might seem suspicious to the VO, and of course I'm thinking of this after I've sent the application. So there is no explanation of how we approached the joint bank account business included in the package...

Am I just worrying too much? Should I have included an explanation?

- Liz.

most of us go through similar thought process. Dont do it ! You will always be second guessing yourself. Besides, if an interview is required, you can explain to the VO

Just be positive and stay strong ! 8)

We didn't open a joint bank account until about 9 months into our one year common-law timeline. A lot of our common-law "proof" developed over time and we didn't have everything in place for the full year before applying (i.e., joint bank accounts, wills, insurance etc.)
If you are applying under the married stream, the joint bank account is a lesser factor. It is much more important for common-law proof.

Don't worry about it, it's no problem! besides, I'm not even sure that the bank statement says the date where you started having joint account... (mine didn't!).
You've been living together before getting married, then you got married, and decided to have a shared bank account. Nothing out of the ordinary, and I'm sure you included lots of proofs explaining how your relationship developed etc. Your Vo won't be suspicious of that! It could be an issue if you were trying to prove common-law and only had that ONE proof of combined affairs. It's probably not your case, so don't worry about it.

There is a thread for february outland applicants if you want to join and find others to worry together! :-) here you are http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/february-2013-outland-only-applications-here-is-your-thread-t133667.240.html

Good luck - but more so: sit back, and relax!
