I am going to send my file next week. But i have one doubt that about my last name and Given name. so here is the situation. On my Passport the my "surname" is Blank and my Given name is as "Jasmeet singh". But in the CEC forms it ask for family name and i dnt have family name. And if i dnt provide my Family name then General Application does not get Validate. Please let me know what should i do. So that i can tell the immigration officer to use Singh as Last name and Jasmeet as First name. And what should i fill in the Family name and Given name in the forms.

Hi Jasmeet,

I was having the smae issues. I applied for PR in 2011 under FSW2 and in 2012 under CEC. I applied BOWP online as well.

All the three times I put "Kaur" as my last name and "S" first name. My passport does not have the surname.

The CIC online applications do not "validate" the application until we don't put the last name.

If you're inside Canada you could try and call CIC hotline at

Call Centre telephone number: 1-888-242‑2100

You need to write your full name in Surname Column as Jasmeet Singh and leave the given name blank. It is mentioned on CIC Website as well. I had the same thing and used my full name in Surname column and left given name blank. I have already received my AOR.

Just out of curiosity, how come you don't have given names? or missing surnames?

I preferred to use my last name as "Kaur". I have received both the AORs and BOWP without any problem.

Jasleenk used the full name as Surname and she got the AOR as well.

So you have a choice.

lol we do have given names and surnames but the people do not use the last name often on their official documents as it is not mandatory to use it in India(specifically in our State Punjab)..Hope it helps..

You can use Singh as last name, mine was same as you n I put Singh in last name.
As suggested by jasleenK you can put your full name in last name. Its your choice.
But eventually they will change your name on your application after & they will put Jasmeet Singh in last name & will leave First name blank.
In my notes they added notes for changing my name.

Given name: Jasmeet

But they said still they goona pick the name what ever shows in the Passport.

Please let know how should i fill....i so worried about it....

if you are facing this problem then you just need to write your full name in Surname Column as Jasmeet Singh and leave the given name blank. You can search on forum too, somebody had a same problem.

Did you read my above comment?? I had exactly same issue. In all my Canadian IDs, Singh is my last name eg WP, driving license, OHIP etc..
I put singh as last name but they put my full name in last name as shown on passport.
So it doesn't matter. either you use singh as last name or full name in last name.

So "bickyii" as the took your given name as last name then you mean on PR card they will write blank for first name and XYZ singh as your last name..? For examplel: , XYZ Singh.

And all other your ID will have same name as , XYZ Singh

am i right?
