I received a letter with instructions to send my original passport to the Canada embassy, I think they are going to stamp it, but my actual passport will expiry in a year, so the letter said that they cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport, I was thinking renew my passport for maybe 10 years, and it would be possible to get a visa for ten years???

But what if I send a different passport , because to make the application I used the one that will expiry in a year.

Thanks in advance.

In your IMM5257E you have clearly specified your current passport details along with its issue and expiration date. Your approved application is based on the information you provided on this application.

Visa stamps also includes the passport number.

I assume when you lodged your application you intend to travel within the period of passport validity.
