Hello, i would like to know if all applicants from any categories from Philippines must assist to a seminar at the visa office in Manila? I ask this question in advance because we are waiting the decision from the VO. If,yes. They will specify in the confirmation letter? Thanks. My wife is a filipina, she apply for PR visa in family class sponsorship.

nobody can answer or help me for the seminar?

I copied this from another forum...I hope this helps

Hi P2C friends,

Lately some of our passengers had a problem going out of Manila Airport!

Reason: NO STAMPED OF PDOS FROM CFO

For the past 3mos we have 3 families who forgot to attend CFO

Here are their reasons:

1. 1. Our visa is issue outside Philippines so we do not need PDOS. WRONG

All 1st time Immigrants departing Manila need PDOS from CFO.

NO ONE IS EXEMPTED

2. 2. We already attended our PDOS in MAKATI , WRONG

That is Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP).

THIS IS NON – COMPULSARY AND NOT A REQUIREMENT BEFORE YOU LEAVE.

But this is very useful for 1st Time Immigrants.

3. 3. We are PROVINCIAL NOMINEE - WRONG

Required Seminars

Important: Applicants who qualify and are issued visas to enter Canada as permanent residents and temporary workers are required by the Philippines government to register and attend a pre-departure orientation seminar before they leave the country.

These seminars are offered by the Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) for immigrants.

CFO Seminars

Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS)

Participants: compulsory for all Filipino immigrants older than 12 years old leaving the country to settle permanently abroad. Children of immigrants, with ages 13 to 19, are required to attend a Peer Counseling Program to help facilitate their adjustment to a new environment.

Length: one day
