Hello everyone, i need advice. i have been selected by IRCC to apply for Parents sponsorship, But i was reading and i found out that

You may not be eligible to sponsor your parent or grandparent if you:

received government financial assistance for reasons other than a disability.

So in 2016, i was on welfare for couple of months but after those months my income was good so i am filing tax for around $30k.

am i eligible to sponsor or what?

please help thanks

Minimum income needed in 2016 for family size of 3 (you + 2 parents) is $48,404.

You don't qualify. Your app will be rejected if you submit it. Also you've now taken a spot from someone who maybe did qualify. Why didn't you bother to read the income requirements before applying to lottery?

Do i not qualify just for income or bieng on welfare? Because i will be just sponsoring my mother, and i am single. so i guess the income requirement would be around $32,000, i am concerned about the social assistance question sir.

If family size of 2, you will need to show 2016 income of $39,371 (and similar for 2014 and 2015). So you still don't come close to qualifying. Did you not actually read the guide?? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5772ETOC.asp

As long as you aren't on welfare when you submit the application, it would be ok to sponsor if you actually met the income levels needed.

You don't meet LICO. It would be a waste of time to submit an app, as you will just be refused.

This forum is to help others, NOT TO CRITICIZE. Thanks.

Just to give you some context about why people get upset and criticize - by submitting an entry into the lottery and being selected when you don't meet the requirements to sponsor, you've taken up a spot that could have been used by someone who does in fact qualify. Parent sponsorship is very important to many people here (as I'm sure it is to you) - so emotions can run quite high.

Agreed with above comments that you'll need to demonstrate income of around $40K for 2016 to qualify. If you have that - great. If you don't - agreed there's no point submitting your application since refusal is guaranteed.
