Hi everyone,

Looking for some guidance from those who have been through Express Entry. I have foreign skilled work experience that I completed while I was also studying full-time abroad. The hours and duties meet IRCC standards and I was paid in cash. I do have evidence: tax returns from my home country for the full 20-month period, bank deposits and employer letters confirming duties, timelines, and hours.

The issue is that this experience was never included in any of my previous immigration paperwork (study permit, work permit, EE profile). I received poor guidance earlier and did not realize this work mattered. Now that I understand its value, adding it would make a significant difference.

Has anyone added previously undeclared foreign work experience later in the EE process and successfully had it accepted with tax returns and employer verification as proof? I want to ensure this won’t be interpreted as misrepresentation when I was simply misinformed before.

Any insights from people who’ve experienced this would help a lot. Thank you! I am just trying not to lose my mind over this lol!

Yes there is a very good chance that this will be considered misrepresentation if you try to claim this work experience. IRCC is very strict now about these types of issues. Would speak to a lawyer if you are still considering trying to claim the experience.

Lots and lots of people previously went through EE with no issues with this misrep. Now, we don't know what they'll do. They do take misrep a bit more seriously now for sure. Talk to a lawyer. No one, but, IRCC will decide what happens there.
