I have a friend who got married with a Canadaian guy in Vancouver about 3 months ago.

However, after they got married, the reltionship changed, she stay in her country and he is in Canada,

they did not apply for immigration .

Just wondering is this marriage still vaild? I mean my friend is a foreigner but he did not sponser her coming to Canada, Vancouver is just a place they got married. Do they still need to hire a lawyer to get divorce?or she actually can marry with someone else in her own country?

Yes their marriage is still valid.

You don't need a lawyer to get a divorce. You can fill out the paper work yourself and file

Yes a divorce is needed before any party can get married again.

Yes, the marriage is legal and still valid. The laws of your friends country will dictate what/how she would need to do in order to proceed with obtaining a divorce. If the Canadian husband wishes to set a divorce in motion, I think he will have to wait a full year of being separated before he can apply for that divorce. Perhaps an annulment would be a better option for both of them since the marriage does not seem to be what either of them wanted.

Of course, I am basing this response solely on what you have stated here. There could be a lot more to this marriage than you are aware of, unless of course it is you that you are referring to. Your previous posts were rather, enigmatic regarding marriage.

Either way, you, or your friend is legally married in Canada and can not legally marry someone else in another country regardless how the current marriage is going until a legal divorce has been obtained.

If the marriage was regestired and everything is on the paper you definetly 100 percent need to get the divorce papers filled as the other member said u don't need a lawyer u could do it your self.
